My Story

Hi! I am Peggy, the creator of Blind Lady Blankets. At an early age, I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa & also Usher Syndrome. RP is a very rare eye disease that can eventually lead to blindness and US is a disease that causes hearing loss. Google these to get a better understanding of both. I am legally Blind and have been since the age of 35. That isn't stopping me from doing things I love like; enjoying walks at the park, riding on the back of my husband’s Harley Davidson, playing cards with my family and it is definitely not stopping me from making blankets for you all! While I am very limited to what I can do, I have always enjoyed knitting.... and that is where this all began. Blind Lady Blankets or BLBs for Bri Lynn Biggs, my daughter who helped me with this small business startup.

I put a ton of love into making these special blankets and it is something I am very passionate about! I hope you all enjoy them just as much as I love making them. I can't wait to see where this little business goes and as always I appreciate you all for following along on my journey and supporting me and a good cause!

All blankets are 35 X 50 in size for $65 each plus shipping.

Blind Lady Blankets backstory!

Blind lady blankets or "BLB"- A little back story to why my mother and I decided to start this little side biz and where the name comes from. You truly never realize how much you take your own eyesight for granted or your own health for that matter. I grew up in some may call the “typical Cincinnati west side Catholic family” but what most of you don’t know is that I have a mother who is legally blind. I’ve never been one to tell all but a few close friends about her very rare eye disease. To be honest, I never wanted to think about the what if’s of her going completely blind so I’ve always pushed off the topic of discussion. It has caused her a lot of struggles in life but it has also made her that much stronger. Even I don’t know how she does it and she rarely complains. There is no cure for her disease. I pray for the day they do find a cure for this disease because I don’t ever want my mom to not be able to see life through her eyes.

She’s limited to what she does so we decided to come up with a little side business called BLB- Blind Lady Blankets aka Bri Lynn Biggs. Not only is this very therapeutic for her to do but it’s very rewarding in lots of ways! It keeps her busy and on her toes, not to mention it is some good ole' mother daughter bonding at its finest! The blankets are made with love and time. They aren’t perfect because let’s face it, read the name :)

We both are looking forward to see where this little small business goes! If you never try, you'll never know!
